About

Suzanne Twining has worked as a stop-motion animator professionally since 1998.  Originally from Baltimore, MD she moved to Portland in 1999 to work for Will Vinton Studios on the television series The PJs.  When the series ended in 2001, she decided to keep Portland as a home base and travel wherever the stop-motion jobs popped up.  This took her to Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Germany.  Suzanne has worked on commercials, short films, TV shows and feature films.  Her credits include television shows such as The Shivering Truth, Celebrity Death Match, Robot Chicken and Tumble Leaf, and three LAIKA feature films, Coraline, ParaNorman and The Boxtrolls.

In 2014, she stepped out of the animator role and served as Animation Director for Screen Novelties on ELF, Buddy’s Musical Christmas, a prime time holiday special for CBS television.  From 2015-2017 Suzanne served as a staff animator for House Special (formerly LAIKA House) and worked on a variety of commercial campaigns including Planters, Haagen-Dazs, M&M’s, Travel Portland, and Chipolte.  She continues to work for House Special on a freelance basis.

Most recently she served as Lead Animator for Henry Selick’s latest feature film, Wendell & Wild, and as a Senior Animator on Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.

Suzanne has also given lectures to schools and film festivals about her experiences in the field of animation and has taught several workshops and animation camps for kids.
